Welcome to the Alf Studios Blog

Welcome to the Alf Studios blog! We have started this blog to highlight the many exciting events coming up in the studio and feature items of interest to string musicians, violinmakers, and others who have an interest in string instruments.

In addition to featuring new instruments made in the shop and highlighting some of the techniques used in making and maintaining stringed instruments, we will also be blogging from the following events over the next few months:

- In late April and early May, Gregg will be in China teaching violinmaking and serving as a judge at the First China International Violin Making Competition. More information about the competition can be found at: http://www.violingallery.cn/

- In late April, Gregg’s apprentice Zak will be in Oslo, Norway exhibiting his copy of the 1744 Del Gesu Ole Bull violin at the Ole Bull Del Gesu Project, which is being held in connection with the 2010 Menuhin Competition. More information about the Ole Bull Del Gesu Project can be found at: http://www.landon-violins.com/olebull/index.html

- In May, Gregg will be in Bergen, Norway, exhibiting his copy of the 1744 Del Gesu Ole Bull violin at the Celebration of Ole Bull. More information can be found at: http://www.olebull2010.no/english

- In June, Gregg will be at the violin making workshop at Oberlin College, sponsored by the Violin Society of America. More information can be found at: http://www.vsa.to/oberlin_schedule.htm
